World Leaders Commend and Support China’s Epidemic Response

More world leaders and heads of international organizations have expressed, through various channels, their sympathies and support for China’s fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi highly appreciated China’s effective response to the outbreak and offered support and assistance to China.

 

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson affirmed full support for the Chinese government, and said that the UK stands shoulder to shoulder with China to contain the ongoing outbreak and will assist further.

 

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa extended deep sympathies to China and wished China a speedy victory against the outbreak.

 

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos expressed his deepest sympathy to the Chinese people and the hope that China’s resolute and unremitting efforts will soon bring the outbreak under control.

 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his firm belief that under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, China will contain and eliminate the epidemic.

 

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune commended the tremendous efforts of the Chinese government as a positive contribution to regional and global public health security.

 

Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde expressed appreciation and firm support for China’s solemn commitment and extraordinary efforts to control the epidemic.

 

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar expressed appreciation and support for China’s actions in fighting the epidemic, and his country’s readiness to provide China with any assistance within its capacity.

 

UN Secretary General António Guterres said that China has made great efforts following the outbreak. The UN firmly supports measures taken by the Chinese government and people to tackle the epidemic, and hopes that all countries work together to deal with the outbreak in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation.

 

President of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly Tijjani Muhammad-Bande said that the resolve and resilience of the Chinese people are admirable, and expressed confidence that under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, China will soon prevail over the epidemic.

Panuelo of the Federated States of Micronesia, Head of State of Samoa Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II, Prime Minister of Mali Boubou Cisse, Prime Minister of Fiji Voreqe Bainimarama, Prime Minister of Grenada Keith Mitchell, foreign ministers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Angola and Norway, as well as the Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization, Director General of the UN Industrial Development Organization and heads of other international and regional organizations have also expressed their support and sympathy.
