World Leaders Commend China’s Epidemic Control Efforts

On 6 February, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom conveyed through Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, to Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming her sympathy and blessings for China in the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak. At an evening reception held at the Ambassador’s residence, Prince Andrew said the Queen is very concerned about the outbreak; she understands that the fight against it is now at a crucial stage, expresses sincere sympathy to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people, and prays for the speedy control and victory over the virus.

On 7 February, President Carlos Alvarado Quesada of Costa Rica offered, on behalf of his government and people, sympathies and support to the Chinese government and people for the NCP outbreak when meeting with Chinese Ambassador Tang Heng at the presidential palace. The Costa Rican government commends China for its epidemic-control measures, and appreciates China’s timely sharing of information with WHO and other parties. He expressed confidence in Chinese people’s ability to defeat the outbreak at an early date.

 

Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik spoke highly of China’s epidemic response, and said he was impressed by China’s efficiency to mobilize nationwide efforts and resources in such a short time. He expressed his confidence in the ability of China and its people to handle the outbreak.
